For a Portland hotel alternative that manages to combine independent design, style, technology and Pacific Northwest mojo, here you go: the Marine Layer custom crash pad now bookable on Airbnb for $150/night.
Located on the third floor of the building housing the San Francisco-born label’s NW 23rd shop (one of two in town), the one-bedroom studio is outfitted in Marine Layer hues with extras from Will Leather, Pendleton, Union Wine Co. and Lather. Staying here also means a discount at the store and access to the backyard (think hammock and cornhole).
Whether or not you’d want to stay here, you’ve got to admit that it’s a pretty good idea – your audience, captive, immersed in your brand identity for a minimum of one night? It got me thinking about other brands in apparel, fashion and beauty. The three I’d like to see roll out crash pads of their own (in no particular order): Dolls Kill, Uniqlo and Benefit. Can you imagine?
